B.P. Agent arrested harboring deported illegal -- his father

Border Patrol agent arrested for harboring twice-deported illegal immigrant -- his father
    By Richard Marosi

    10:31 p.m. EST, January 11, 2011

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was charged Tuesday with harboring his father, a twice-deported illegal immigrant with a criminal record, in his house and then lying about his whereabouts to federal investigators, authorities said.

Marcos Gerardo Manzano Jr., 26, allegedly told his father that authorities were looking for him, and let him live at his residence in a working-class neighborhood of San Ysidro.

His father, Marcos Gerardo Manzano Sr., 46, was convicted of a marijuana offense in October 2006 and deported to Mexico a few months later, according to the criminal complaint filed in San Diego federal court.

Starting in September 2009, Manzano Sr. was seen regularly coming and going from his son's home, according to the complaint. Last month, Manzano Jr. allegedly told an investigator inquiring about his father's whereabouts that he had had no contact with him, although he admitted knowing he was a deported felon.

Manzano Jr. was arrested Monday night at the Border Patrol station in Imperial Beach. When an FBI Swat team raided Manzano Jr.'s home Tuesday morning, his father was gone. Another man in the residence, a deported illegal immigrant, was arrested. The FBI is seeking Manzano Sr., who is considered a fugitive.

Manzano Jr. is charged with harboring illegal aliens and lying to federal investigators and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. The investigation was headed by the FBI-led Border Corruption Task Force, which was formed to handle a surge of corruption cases in recent years involving federal agents along the Southwest border.

You are so right Lady. Probably cause they can communicate with the invaders. This is a job where the American guys HAVE to learn spanish. The only spanish they should have to know is "Stop", (Mod Edit) and "Put your hands behind your back". I dont see any need for anymore spanish talking than that.

I remember reading somewhere that in the nation of Jordan they have so many Palestinians that they have a law barrig all Palestinians from ANY government position. Nobody is accusing them of bigotry or xenophobia. It is just common sense. If they wish to be the nation of Jordan they have to maintain this boundary.

Border Patrol agent in Calif. busted for harboring illegal immigrants, including his own father

FBI Police in California are searching for Marcos Gerardo Manzano Sr., who is in the country illegally.

A Border Patrol agent in San Diego was busted Tuesday for harboring illegal immigrants at his home – including his own dad.

Marcos Gerardo Manzano Jr., 26, was arrested at the Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station after police and FBI agents staged an early morning raid at his home in San Ysidro and arrested Jose Alfredo Garrido-Morena, a suspected undocumented immigrant, NBC San Diego reported.

According to court documents, Garrido-Morena, 26, had been living at Manzano's house since November -- along with Manzano's 46-year-old pop, Marcos Gerardo Manzo Sr., who is wanted by the feds.

The elder Manzano was not at the home at the time of the sunrise raid and is still on the run.

He was busted on marijuana charges four years ago and twice deported to Mexico before sneaking back into the U.S., Fox San Diego reported.

Manzano Jr. is also charged with lying to federal investigators, who had asked him about his dad's whereabouts.

On Tuesday, a heavily armed SWAT squad, backed by Customs officers and Border Patrol forces, stormed Manzano Jr.'s home, where they arrested Garrido-Morena and also detained a second man and three women, Fox reported.

"It looked like a movie. It was a big scene," neighbor Daniel Lazo told NBC. "Seems impossible. They were everywhere."

The second man and women, whose relationship to the Manzanos and Garrido-Morena was not clear, were released after questioning.

Manzano Jr. and Garrido-Morena were being held in a jail in downtown San Diego and scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
