Mexico criticizes advance of proposed Ariz. law
Posted 8m ago |
MEXICO (AP) — Mexico says a proposed Arizona law targeting illegal immigrants is an unfortunate step toward violating the rights of Mexicans in the United States.
Julian Ventura, undersecretary for North America, says in a statement Thursday the bill approved this week by a state senate committee would harm relations between Mexico and the U.S. border state.
The bill would bar illegal immigrants from attending public schools, living in public housing or driving. Another bill seeks to deny citizenship to children born in the U.S. if their parents are illegal immigrants.
President Felipe Calderon said he "deeply laments" the current political environment in Arizona which promotes laws that fail to recognize the contributions of migrants.

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
