Mitchell proposing Arizona-style immigration law

CLINTON — Rep. Bill Mitchell R-(Forsyth) is proposing passage of an Arizona-style immigration law in Illinois. Mitchell was in Clinton recently during a trip he made around his district on the issue.

Arizona law enforcement officers now have the authority to verify residency status of suspected illegal aliens. The state is suffering under the enormous cost of supplying illegal aliens with state services. The Arizona health care system has been under severe strain for some time because of the cost to treat uninsured illegal aliens.

Mitchell has launched a petition drive to support tougher immigration laws in Illinois. “The state is broke, yet we continue to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on welfare for illegal aliens,â€

I would certainly support this type of action in my home state, however it's a major sanctuary state and overcoming the bleeding heart libs will certainly be an uphill battle. Illegals in my town pretty much run the city, our mayor cowtows to their every wish. Our local WalMart sold shirts saying "illegal and proud" (took them off the racks after I and several others complained to the manager and to headquarters). Good luck Mr. Mitchell. I truly hope for your success.

Can we add Illinois to our list of states working to pass AZ immigration laws?

Illinois would make 23 states joining AZ to enforce US immigration law, right for a total of 24?

Judy: I fear Mr. Mitchell is a voice in the wilderness here in Illinois. Remember, Dick Durbin is also the voice of Illinois.

There is something I just don't understand and hope some of you can help!

Obama is sueing Arizona and now has the UN involved in his fight.

Other states have passed laws that seem to be tougher on illegals than Arizona but Obama isn't going after them.

He seems to "have it in" for Governor Brewer. He seems to be trying to "break" her. IMO he seems to have turned his personal dislike for the govenor into a international fight. He seems to being using his power to say to the American people "I can do whatever I want .........I'm the president" I don't even need congress!!

I'm not aware of any other federal lawsuits against any state for enforcing US immigration law, anywhere except Arizona. There may be, but I've not heard of them.

It's a vendetta, no question. And the reason Arizona is the target, is because over half of the illegal aliens who enter the country, enter through Arizona. This administration does not want the gateway to more than 50% of the illegal immigration to take measures to stop it.

This Administration is deliberately bullying AZ to get them to back off securing their border because doing so would grind to a halt over half of all illegal immigration into the US.

I agree Judy! Arizona is a gateway state and this administration cannot afford to have that gateway compromised. Same with California, New Mexico and Texas. These states need to be illegal invader friendly in order to allow millions of invaders access to this country.

Notice how the most liberal states regarding illegal invaders also share a border with mexico? Well, Arizona decided to thwart this invasion and the government does not like it one bit!
