Lou Barletta won. So did Paul Kanjorski. But we already knew they would.

The 11th Congressional District candidates earned their party’s nomination Tuesday and will now prepare for battle in the November general election.

According to unofficial results from Luzerne County, Kanjorski received 38,286 electronic and absentee votes.

More than 1,000 write-in votes were cast in the Democratic congressional race in Luzerne County. The names of the write-ins were not available at press time.

Barletta, the Republican mayor from Hazleton, received 11,407 electronic and absentee votes in Luzerne County.

In Carbon County, Kanjorski received 8,468 votes and Barletta received 3,027. In Columbia Count, Kanjorski received 7,243, to Barletta’s 4,336. Lackawanna and Monroe , the other two counties in the 11th District, did not have 100 percent of the votes counted.

Independent candidate Kurt Shotko also plans to run as a third-party candidate in the November general election.

Kanjorski, an incumbent from Nanticoke, said he didn’t want to discuss the general election Tuesday night. Instead, he was basking in the Hillary Clinton victory, particularly her big wins in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.

“It looks like Mrs. Clinton will receive 75 percent of the vote in Luzerne County and the same in Lackawanna County,â€
