While Latino advocacy groups tout that 47 miilion Hispanics live in the United States I am wondering if indeed they are not using statistics to drive the debate in their favor. After all numbers mean a lot isn't that true, or is it?

Can anybody confirm this. Roughly 27 - 28 million Hispanic US Citizens + 5 million - ish legal resident = 47 million? Isn't the difference illegal aliens. Could be up to 30% of illegals?!?

Are my numbers about right or am off base? Please let me know.
thanks
