Berkeley of the Midwest: Toledo mayor orders Marines to leave

Berkeley’s troop-bashing virus has spread to Ohio. Looks like the mayor of Toledo hates the Marines. He’s demanding that they leave town and treating them like demons. Via the Toledo Blade ( http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar ... /802090394 ):

A company of Marine Corps Reservists received a cold send-off from downtown Toledo yesterday by order of Mayor Carty Finkbeiner.

The 200 members of Company A, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., planned to spend their weekend engaged in urban patrol exercises on the streets of downtown as well as inside the mostly vacant Madison Building, 607 Madison Ave.

Toledo police knew days in advance about their plans for a three-day exercise. Yet somehow the memo never made it to Mayor Finkbeiner, who ordered the Marines out yesterday afternoon just minutes before their buses were to arrive.

First, please allow me to state the obvious: There is no city in the USA prouder of and more determined to display delight in its growing mental illness than is Berkeley, California. In fact, for many decades, Berkeley has not only taken pleasure in its deranged behaviors but, has encouraged and cultivated them. What are the reasons for this conduct? Answer: As of 2004, 90% of the city’s registered voters were listed as Democrats. Forever stuck in a 1960’s mentality, the Berkeley city council has designated the skies above the city as a “space-based weapons-free zone.â€
