Biden: Including immigrants key to stopping extremism in US

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States must ensure that immigrants are fully included in the fabric of American society to prevent violent ideologies from taking root at home, Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday as he opened a White House summit on countering extremism and radicalization.

Joining local elected officials, community leaders and religious figures, Biden portrayed the U.S. as far better positioned than Europe, thanks to what he called America's successful record at cultural integration. He said societies must offer immigrants an "affirmative alternative" to extremism, cautioning that military force alone could not address the threat.

Across the Atlantic, deadly terrorist attacks in France, Belgium and Denmark have left Europeans feeling vulnerable to the type of violent ideology promoted by the Islamic State group and once thought to be confined mostly to the Middle East and North Africa.

"National security flows from a sense of community," Biden said, adding that the most important lesson the U.S. can learn is that "inclusion counts."

The White House has sought to use the three-day conference in Washington to stir a sense of urgency about the challenge of preventing home-grown terrorism and the radicalization and recruitment of Americans, particularly disaffected young people. Yet it comes as the Obama administration has struggled to match its stated strategy for fighting IS and other Islamic extremist groups with the realities on the ground in Libya, Yemen and other Mideast hotspots.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama was to address a gathering at the White House examining the response from U.S. cities, then speak at the State Department on Thursday at a gathering of representatives from roughly 60 countries. The United Kingdom, Jordan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and France are expected to attend.

Biden, in his remarks, held up Boston, Los Angeles and Minneapolis as examples of communities moving ahead with programs to counter extremism locally. He said the goal was to bring together broad coalitions of community leaders so that all Americans — and particularly Muslims — would feel like "we see them."

"We haven't always gotten it right," Biden said. "But we have a lot of experience integrating communities into the American system, the American dream."

Seriously?! Sounds like a speech a kindergarten teacher would make on the first day of school to a bunch of 5 year olds. Is this what this massive immigration has done to our country? Reduced our leadership to babbling to immigrants about childish things like "we see you" and then say to foreign Muslims "especially you"? When was the last time a Governor or President or Senator or House Leader was in Watts, Harlem or the Chicago "Projects" telling these poor trapped American souls "we see you", or to our black Americans still seeking simple racist-free equality after centuries, "especially you"? The only public official I'm aware of who actually visited the ghettos of the United States was Robert Kennedy. It's time our politicians stepped out of their high-flying lifestyles and lofty New World Order cartel-backed con games and saw first-hand what the "American system, the American dream" has been reduced to as a direct result of the flagrant abuse of immigration policy that has not only perpetuated poverty and hardship in America, it has proliferated it.

I still remember the look of hope in the eyes of so many black Americans who truly believed that the election of Barack Obama would make a difference for them. Well, it did, just not in the way they expected, needed or wanted. He made it worse for them, and even in his last two years of an 8 year Presidency, he is still driving nails in their coffins with his immigration policies defying our Congress, Laws, Constitution and Courts to hand out public benefits and work authorizations to illegal aliens that directly compete with and steal from all Americans, especially black Americans. So, it's clear that he does not see them, or if he does, could care less about the adverse impact of his policies on them so he can flirt with Arabs and Mexicans instead.

Republicans, our party was formed in 1854 to put an end to slavery and discrimination against black Americans. And yes, everything that has been done to ensure freedom and equal rights for black Americans, has been either by us or because of our efforts. But as you can see, our job isn't finished and it can't be finished until we stop this outrageous massive immigration that harms black Americans the most but all Americans at the end of the day. We can not call ourselves Republicans if any of us support guest worker programs and massive immigration as many of have done in recent years, because this defies the original purpose of our political party which was to improve the lives of our citizens, not burden them with the cost of supporting foreign nationals with publicly funded benefits and American jobs that leave Americans unemployed with either a big tax bill they can't pay or a national debt that 10 future generations won't be able to repay.
