TUCSON, Ariz. -- Country singer Steve Earle said he has postponed his show in Tucson over an anti-immigrant law in Arizona.

Tickets were supposed to go on sale Friday for Earle's first Tucson show in two years. But on Wednesday night, the singer and activist said his July 4 show was on hold, citing an artist boycott over Arizona's SB1070.

Earle said he was under the impression that the boycott had been called off after a federal court struck down many of the new law's provisions.

The law, which would give local police broader powers to identify illegal immigrants, is still wending its way through the federal court appeals process.

Earle said he's only postponing the show until he can research the boycott and its effects.
