Thread: Billionaire Koch Brothers Agenda Prioritized with Prison Reform While Trump’s Immigra

Very, very bad idea, President Trump. First you fire your 'law and order' AG and now you're going soft on crime. This is not a conservative issue and shouldn't be supported by a Republican President! We've got bigger fish to fry. If you don't believe that just look to our extremely weak border security. Stop listening to Javanka and get your priorities straight. I know you want to show you can work with the Democrats, but this is not the way to go.

This bill is about Americans, the 4 out of 5 federal inmates who are American Citizens, American Citizens who have been shafted by the "law and order" agenda of the 1990's. This bill is putting Americans First and whatever is done to the illegal aliens or deportable immigrants in federal prisons should be and will be serve your time and be deported. If DOJ can't keep up with it, then DOJ needs to get their act together so it can keep up with it or turn the process of issuing deportation and orders of removal back to DHS where it should have been all along, in my opinion. This will streamline and expedite the whole process of deporting and removing foreign nationals from our country who shouldn't have been here to begin with or who prove through their actions we no longer want them in our country.

I hope this prison reform bill passes quickly and overwhelmingly, and I am so proud of the President and the Republicans in Congress who worked so hard on it to correct what may have been well-intentioned legislation in the 1990's but turned out to be dead wrong for our country and citizens.

All foreigners that are low risk criminals should be deported now.

Get them out of our jails and off our soil unless they committed violent crimes!

Currently illegal aliens released from prison are transferred to ICE for deportation. DOJ has nothing to do with the transfer or the deportation.

Everyone here knows that DOJ, not ICE, is responsible for deportation hearings and issuing the orders of deportation right? Everyone here also knows that DOJ has a 700,000 plus back-log on deportation hearings, which based on their current annual numbers spans more than 7 years into the future, right?

You are correct it is ICE doing the physical deportations, and apparently they get the order from DOJ, but are not carrying that order out.

For years I see headlines like this.

That's right. ICE has a standing order to deport illegal alien criminals when released from prison. DOJ is not involved in the process.

Illegal aliens prosecuted by the courts for a criminal act outside of illegal immigration are sent to prison. Once the illegal alien is up for release, it's the job of ICE to take physical custody of the illegal and process him for immediate deportation. ICE works for DHS, so it is the sole responsibility of DHS/ICE to deport illegals released from prison. As I said, the DOJ is not involved in that specific operation.

An expedited order of removal through ICE without DOJ only applies to people who were legal immigrants with documents who became illegal aliens when they committed a crime or violated their immigration documents in some other way, it does not apply to illegal aliens who never had immigration documents. Illegal aliens who never had immigration documents have to have a deportation hearing with and an order of deportation from DOJ to be removed from the country by ICE. DOJ can conduct a hearing while they're in prison and have the order ready to go whenever they're released, but they still have to have an order of deportation, that's why they're whining about the early release component, it means DOJ will have to speed up their process while the illegal alien is in prison, which they should have been doing all along.
