Town Hall To Tackle Major Issues Facing Minority Groups

Los Angeles- Does the election of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa mean the end of an era for black leaders? Racially-motivated brawls in Los Angeles Unified Schools, illegal immigration, racial remarks made by Mexican President Vicente Fox, and how to foster better relationships between Blacks, Hispanics, and law enforcement will be among the issues that will be addressed by elected officials and other experts at the Blacks and Hispanics: Allies or Rivals? Town Hall Forum, Thursday, July 28, 2005, 7 p.m. PST, sponsored by the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny (BOND).

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson , founder and president of BOND, will moderate the forum. Speakers will include Bernard Parks, Los Angeles City Councilman ; Terry Anderson, Radio Talk Show Host, AM 870-KRLA; Richard Alonzo, Superintendent LAUSD ; David Hernandez, Chairman, Committee to Support L.A. County Seal; Rev. Kerry Allison, Hope Community Church ; Lupe Moreno, Immigration Activist; David Rodriguez, National V.P. Far West Region, LULAC.

Rivals? Over what?

Why are people always casting us in antagonistic roles?

BobC--I know what you're saying, but THIS question is allies against illegal aliens, isn't it? Not American Hispanics or Latinos, but ILLEGAL ALIENS no matter what their race, religion, ethnic origin, etc.

In which case....this is a good thing, eh?
