It would be ludicrious to believe that these workers are going through people’s trash to find their Social Security numbers. They didn’t “steal” the identity of others. They bought those SS cards on the black market.
That’s not to say that is right. Obviously, it’s wrong. But it’s not like they’re using those SS numbers to go get credit cards and buy plasma TVs. They use those documents to WORK.
Really, if they were out to rip people off would they really spend 10 hour days hauling bloody animal carcases for $13 an hour?

She's wrong about misuse of the SSNs, there are several documented cases of loans and bills run up, with consequences hounding the real owner of the number. The worker wannabes surely knew that they needed real SSNs to get past employment screening, and they had to know that any economic activity under a stolen number would cause problems for the real citizen whose number it was. The outrage over the raid is also odd, because such a raid can theoretically happen at any time and the illegals know that. So, where does this expectation of being left alone to live happily ever after come from?
