Arizona Daily Star
TUCSON - The sixth body of an illegal immigrant in the past six days has been recovered in southern Arizona, Border Patrol officials said.

The body was found Wednesday morning south of Tucson, between Amado and Green Valley, officials said.

A male illegal entrant flagged down traffic on Interstate 19 and asked for help for a friend who had been left on a trail in distress, said Gustavo Soto, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman.

Someone called the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which made contact with Border Patrol, Soto said.

A short time later, a Customs and Border Protection helicopter spotted the man about six miles south of Green Valley.

Soto said the Border Patrol's Search, Trauma and Rescue unit traveled to the area and found the body of a 31-year-old man from Nayarit, Mexico.

Border Patrol officials said they have found at least one dead illegal border crosser every day since Friday.

According to the latest figures from Border Patrol, agents in the Tucson Sector had found 88 bodies compared with 90 at the same time last year.
