U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued six people in two incidents Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday at 11 a.m. agents apprehended two illegal immigrants near the village of Topawa on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, said Rob Daniels, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman. The man and woman, both 21, of Mexico, told agents that a family member had been left behind in distress.
The agency launched a search and within an hour, they found a 31-year-old woman who was conscious but non-responsive, Daniels said. She was flown by life flight helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson where she is expected to survive, he said. Her sister and brother-in-law have been returned to Mexico, Daniels said.
The second rescue began Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. when Pima County Sheriff’s Department patched through a 911 call from five illegal immigrants in distress to the Border Patrol. The agency was able to stay in contact with two men via cell phone and get more information about the group’s location, he said.
A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine helicopter was sent out to join the search and at 4:30 p.m., they found the group southwest of the village of Itak on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, Daniels said.
Four of the people were treated at the scene and were in relatively good condition. A fifth was taken to the hospital in Sells for further treatment. All five men were given voluntary returns and returned to Mexico.

Save a life. Show compassion and restraint. Send them home intact. That's what our wonderful Border Patrol people often do.
