Border officers seize 1,450 pills of Ecstasy

EL PASO -- Three men and a juvenile were arrested on drug charges in separate incidents at a San Elizario supermarket and on an international bridge.

At 12:50 a.m. Friday , Kyle Robert Matthews, 20, of El Paso, was crossing the Bridge of the Americas when he was searched by U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel. The search revealed a bundle of 1,450 Ecstasy pills taped in Matthews' crotch area, officials said.

Matthews was handed to El Paso County Sheriff's detectives and faces a drug possession charge. He was released Saturday on a $50,000 bond.

Thursday evening, sheriff's deputies seized 214 grams of cocaine during a sting operation at the San Eli Supermarket, 12004 Socorro Road.

Arrested on drug charges were Manuel Galvan, 23, of Juárez, Alonzo Dominguez Valdez, 22, of San Elizario, and a 15-year-old boy from San Elizario whose name was not released.
