When their first date was at a McDonald’s in Benson, Sarah Brelsford knew she and Brian Terry had a lot in common.

Both led busy lives, were passionate about their jobs, and they had to work to make time for a relationship. She was a teacher, he was a Border Patrol agent on the elite BORTAC unit, and every minute was precious for the young couple who lived miles apart, he in Sierra Vista, she in Sahuarita.

Their relationship grew over the next three years, and they stayed in touch through text messages and weekend visits. Sometimes it didn’t look like it was going to work; other times they couldn’t bear to be apart.

Today, Brelsford is alone, left with memories and photos of the man she planned to marry. Terry, 40, died Tuesday night in Peck Canyon near Rio Rico after he was shot in the back by suspected Mexican bandits.

What really hurts so much is that he died protecting illegal immigrants

That is what hurts the most..and the fact that he was shot in the back...He should be with his family...If his job wasn't about protecting ILLEGAl'S who just keep stomping on our rights and our security and NAPPY wasn't a lying sneaky B he would be.....We have some evil in our whitehouse and they need to get out fast!!

My prayers to all the loved ones of Brian...rip big guy
