Las Cruces, NM

Yesterday, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Las Cruces Border Patrol Station arrested a man wanted for kidnapping while Agents from Lordsburg also arrested a subject wanted for Aggravated Assault in California. Border Patrol Agents from the Las Cruces were conducting immigration inspections at the I-25 checkpoint when they encountered Juan Jaramillo. Agents noted conflicting stories and extreme nervous behavior. The vehicle he was riding in was sent to secondary inspection for further questioning and identification of the individual. Records checks revealed a recent warrant for his arrest having been issued by the Doña Ana County Sheriffs Office for Kidnapping, Breaking and Entering and Battery among others. Juan Jaramillo was turned over to the Doña Ana Sheriffs Office for pending criminal charges. In Lordsburg, Agents responded to a call a suspicious individual hiding in a building near Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Agents conducted a search of the area and found Carlos Martinez-Martinez, a Mexican national, attempting to conceal himself. Agents questioned the individual and determined he was in the United States illegally and transported him to the station for removal. Records checks revealed he has an active warrant originating out of Los Angeles County for Aggravated Assault. Martinez is being processed for removal and will be extradited to California for the outstanding criminal warrant. These latest arrests are prime examples of the impact being made on a regular basis by the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol. These enforcement efforts increase the quality of life in the communities that we serve while securing our nation's borders.
