Border Patrol Agents Capture Suspect in Laredo Murder

September 3, 2008

Laredo, Texas – Border Patrol agents from the Laredo North station recently captured a man wanted in connection with a murder that occurred near Laredo over the Labor Day weekend.

Agents patrolling along the Camino Colombia Road on Monday, observed a male subject walking along the road. When the man saw the marked Border Patrol vehicle approaching, he ran into the brush. The agents captured the man and transported him to the Interstate 35 checkpoint located north of Laredo.

While the man was being processed for an immigration violation, agents received an alert from the Laredo Sector Border Intelligence Center regarding a man who was wanted in connection with a murder that had occurred the previous night at a ranch north of Laredo. The agents quickly realized that the man they had in custody matched the description of the suspect.

The agents notified the Webb County Sheriff’s Office that they had the suspect in custody and subsequently turned him over to deputies for an investigation. Sheriff’s officers charged the subject with murder. He is currently being held on $200,000 bond.

To report suspicious activity such as drug and/or alien smuggling, contact the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free telephone number at 1-800-343-1994.
