Border Patrol Agents Foil Large Alien Smuggling Effort

(Tuesday, October 27, 2009)

Tucson, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Tucson Station encountered more than 50 illegal aliens Monday morning.

Agents working near the Boboquivari Mountain Range responded to illegal alien traffic several miles west of State Route 86. When the agents arrived to the isolated area, 58 illegal aliens were discovered and taken into custody.

As Border Patrol agents are progressively more effective at combating illegal alien traffic, smugglers alter their routes in hopes of maintaining profits. Smugglers are more frequently using remote areas, including high mountain ranges, as they attempt to travel undetected.
