TUCSON - This holiday season, the Tucson Sector Border Patrol didn't just apprehend illegal immigrants at the border; they also gave back to the community by donating blood and assisting the elderly.

On Wednesday, agents donated a total of 40 units of blood when the American Red Cross mobile collection bus stopped by the Naco Border Patrol Station, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

Last week, agents from the Nogales Border Patrol Community Relations Unit prepared and served lunch to 40 elderly residents in the Monte Carlo subdivision in Nogales, the release states.

"Tucson Sector Border Patrol remains committed to lending a helping hand while keeping border communities safe. Fostering positive relationships with the people we serve and protect is important to agents and carries special significance during the holidays," CBP states in the news release.
