Laredo Border Patrol Agents Return Murder Suspect to Mexico
(Friday, December 12, 2008)
Laredo, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents turned a homicide suspect over to Mexican authorities today.
Alejandro Hernandez-Portilla, 33, a Mexican national from the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, was arrested earlier this week in Hill County, Texas on a DUI charge. Hill County authorities identified Hernandez-Portilla as an undocumented alien and turned him over to Border Patrol agents assigned to Laredo Sector’s Dallas station.
During processing, the agents positively identified Hernandez-Portilla as the subject of a homicide warrant issued by a judge in Hidalgo, Mexico.
Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents contacted Mexican authorities and made arrangements to return Hernandez-Portilla to them.
This afternoon, Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents escorted Hernandez-Portilla to the U.S.-Mexico border and handed him over to Mexican officials.
