Brownsville CBP Officers Spend Weekend Seizing Nearly $1.2 Million in Cocaine, Marijuana
(Monday, January 18, 2010)
Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers had another busy weekend at the Brownsville port of entry, seizing close to 28 pounds of cocaine and more than 75 pounds of marijuana; two women and one man were arrested in connection with these enforcement actions. The seized narcotics had a combined estimated street value of almost $1.2 million.
The first of two cocaine seizures occurred on January 16, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2002 Chrysler Sebring driven a 24 year-old female Mexican citizen and resident of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico for a secondary inspection. I saw 2 Mexican males in a large late model Suburban SUV with Mexican plates. They saw my flexicuffs hanging from my rear veiw mirror and stayed far behind me and several lanes over as well. What I would have given to find them slip and be able to pull them over. I gave a friend of mine the head up and where they were heading. I still have to look up the U.S. Marshall's and ICE's most wanted to see if any look like them.
