TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Border Patrol agents working in the western Arizona desert made six arrests and seized over 3,500 pounds of marijuana in separate incidents.

An agent near Ajo found almost 2,000 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned truck about a half mile off the main road Friday after another agent reported seeing bundles being ejected from the bed of the truck.

Six suspected drug smugglers were arrested Saturday when agents discovered 893 pounds of marijuana inside three vehicles at the Sonoita check point station. The Border Patrol says the six suspects are facing federal drug charges.

In a separate incident Saturday, agents found 746 pounds of marijuana hidden under a brush south of Ajo after someone reported seeing possible illegal activity. The seized narcotics are valued at $1.77 million.
