Border Patrol, DEA Make Huge Pot Bust in Sullivan City

Sulilvan City, Texas ─ U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration in confiscating more than 3,500 pounds of marijuana today.

U.S. Border Patrol and DEA teamed up to seize more than 3,500 pounds of marijuana from a house in Sullivan City, Texas, on Wednesday.

Agents were patrolling near Los Ebanos, Texas, when they noticed several people loading bundles of what appeared to be marijuana into a pickup truck. Agents called for air support from the Office of Air and Marine, which assisted in following the vehicle to a house in Sullivan City. As agents responded to the location they witnessed several people fleeing from the house.

Through a coordinated effort the Drug Enforcement Administration obtained a search warrant for the residence. The execution of the warrant resulted in the seizure of more than 300 packages of marijuana inside the house and the truck.

The marijuana was valued at more than $2.8 million and was turned over to DEA for further investigation.
