Tamaulipas investigators on Sunday found four men executed in Matamoros and Mexican marines rescued seven men and one woman in a stash house, Mexican authorities reported.

The Tamaulipas Timely Information Center reported four men executed early Sunday morning. Two were found at the intersection of 14th Street and Diagonal Cuauhtemoc, while two others were found on the southern part of Sixth Avenue. All four were shot to death and Tamaulipas Ministerial Police continue to investigate, the center reported. Additional information was not available at press time Sunday.

In a separate incident, the Mexican navy announced the successful rescue of seven men and one woman from a stash house. The rescue came as a result of an ongoing investigation by naval intelligence and resulted in the arrest of seven members of the Lagrimas kidnapping gang, a press release from the navy stated.

The investigation is related to a May 3 rescue by Mexican marines in Matamoros in which 17 individuals were rescued from two stash houses.

According to the release, Mexican marines arrested Bernardino "El Gordo" Hinojosa Gaytan, 29 and Salvador "El Chava" Martinez Olvera, 34. The two men led marines to the house of Jorge "El Lagrimas" Perez Muñoz, 24, the alleged leader of the gang.

During a raid at the house, the marines arrested Carlos "El Carlos" Arondo, 30; Eduardo "El Lalo" Rocha Perez, 37 and Juan Antonio "El Palomo" Banda Palomo, 32, the navy stated. At the same house, naval personnel rescued the seven men and one woman that were being held for ransom by the Lagrimas gang.

During the raid marines seized more than nine pounds of marijuana in the garage and a loaded AK-47 assault rifle with five loaded ammunition magazines. After the raid, the marines were led to a nearby hotel where another member of the gang, Felix "El Chino" Perez Gonzalez, worked. The seven suspects were flown to Mexico City where they were turned over to a special unit of the Attorney Generals Office that specializes in organized crime.
