Border patrol agents say they found $70,000 dollars worth of drugs in a car heading toward Canada.

According to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, a Canadian couple travelled through Maine on Monday with ecstasy pills and cocaine in their car.

Police arrested Jason White, 40, and Amber Baird, 21, of Newfoundland Monday night. Their car was searched at the US-Canadian border crossing.

They were transported to the Franklin County Jail in Farmington.

Both have pleaded guilty to drug charges. Baird was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $5,000. White was fined $750 and forfeited his car, which police say is worth about $6,000.
