Lordsburg, N.M. – On Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents in Lordsburg seized more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana after discovering a stolen pick-up truck loaded with contraband hidden inside of a commercial trailer.

Border Patrol agents assigned to the Lordsburg Border Patrol Station were alerted to the suspicious commercial trailer parked near the New Mexico and Arizona state line. Upon initial inspection, agents noted the trailer was unaccompanied with no driver or transport vehicle in the vicinity. Closer inspection led to agents discovering the rear doors of the trailer were open and a 2006 Ford F350 pick-up truck was parked inside.

Records checks revealed that the pick-up truck had been reported stolen.

Further inspection led to the discovery of approximately 2,248 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,798,320.

The trailer and narcotics were seized and the New Mexico State Police were notified and took custody of the stolen pick-up truck.
