TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe police along with Drug Enforcement Administration concluded a 15 month undercover drug operation, saying it's the biggest in the city's history.
Over the course of the investigation, officers arrested 203 people. We’re told the suspects did everything from street deals to trafficking.
Law enforcement was also able to seize more than 1,200 pounds of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana—valued at more than $12 million. Eight million in cash and guns were also taken.
Police say this investigation started after an officer witnessed a known drug user purchase drugs. The officer was able to make a traffic stop at Elliot Road and McClintock Drive.
“This puts a dent into how the Sinaloa Drug Cartel distributed drugs across the Valley,” said Tempe police Commander Kim Hale.
One person has already been convicted in connection with this case. More arrests are expected.
