Newark, N.J. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized several shipments of drug paraphernalia at the Jersey City International Bulk Mail Facility on June 24. A total of 28,962 items of drug related paraphernalia were seized in separate shipments that originated in Canada.

Nearly 29,000 items of paraphernalia was intercepted at the Jersey City International Bulk Mail Facility.

The shipments were comprised of various types of glass pipes, which had a domestic value greater than $160,000 and a MSRP of more than $500,000. The shipments were destined to a company in New York City.

The shipments had originally arrived in May and June. They had been detained by Import Specialists assigned to the Port of New York/Newark, until they were able to confirm that the merchandise was in fact drug related paraphernalia. As drug paraphernalia, U.S. law prohibits the importation of glass pipes.
