TUCSON, Ariz. — The following is a rundown of activities that occurred over the weekend within the Tucson Sector. This is only a thumbnail of each incident and an invitation to contact the Tucson Sector Communications Division for more information.

Arrests

(NGL) On April 3, Nogales Station agents encountered a United States citizen east of the DeConcini Port of Entry. Upon further investigation, agents discovered the individual had failed to present himself for inspection at a port, and attempted to enter the United States undetected. The subject was detained and transported to the DeConcini Port for further inspection.

Seizures

(CAG) On April 2, Casa Grande Station agents responded to a call for assistance with a traffic stop from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. Agents responded and arrested an illegal alien in possession of a handgun. The subject and weapon was taken to the Casa Grande Station turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for prosecution.

Rescues and Recoveries

(AJO) On April 3, Ajo Station agents responded to a Rescue Beacon activation in the West Desert and encountered two illegal aliens. The illegal aliens were offered medical attention which they both declined. The subjects were taken into custody.

(CAG) On April 3, Casa Grande Station agents located human remains in the West Desert. The Tohono O’odham Police Department was contacted, responded and took over the remains.

On April 3, Casa Grande agents with the assistance from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) helicopter rescued five illegal aliens in the Santa Rosa Mountains. The lost subjects were located by a signal fire. Each subject was rendered first aid and was offered further medical attention whey they all declined. The subjects were taken into custody.

CBP’s U.S. Border Patrol is committed to preventing illegal aliens and illegal drugs from reaching our communities through a combination of manpower, tactical infrastructure and technology. Border Patrol agents continue to work as part of the Alliance to Combat Transnational Threats (ACTT), which includes local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement partners, to keep our communities safe.
