It looks like rape and sexual assault of children are among those jobs that 'Americans just won't do.'

In the span of just four days last week, border patrol agents caught two wanted sex offenders who were hiding in Mexico, trying to sneak back into the United States, but spokesman George Gomez is quick to say that this is not a growing trend.

"It's pretty much the luck of the draw, when it comes to apprehensions," he tells Newsradio 1200 WOAI. "We dont know who we have in custody until we properly fingerprint and identify these individuals."

On December 18th, agents working near Hachita, New Mexico caught two undocumented migrants crossing the international boundary fence in an area notorious for illegal entries. One of them, Cruz Jose Martinez-Rios, 33, had an extensive criminal history, including an active warrant of arrest in Hastings, Minnesota on charges of Sexual Penetration, Criminal Sex Conduct, 3rd Degree. It's a charge that's usually reserved for older men who sexually assault a child.

Then, on December 21st, Border Patrol Agents on patrol near Sunland Park, New Mexico caught four men climbing through a hole in the international boundary fence. During processing, it was discovered that Gilberto Izquierdo Ramirez, 43, had an active warrant for his arrest in Reno, Nevada for failing to appear in court in regard to a charge of Lewdness with a Child Under the age of 14.

Both men will be extradited back to the states where the warrants were issued.

Gomez says both cases show the importance of communication between federal and state agencies.

"It's so important that we use the technology in our fingerprint capabilities to tap into databases."
