    Letter to Sen. Schumer

    Dear Senator Schumer,

    Re: Subcommittee hearings on Border

In your May 20, 2009 Immigration Subcommittee hearing--"Securing the Border and America's Points of Entry"--you interviewed several agents who lead law enforcement organizations near the US border with Mexico.

Senator, what about the infiltration of criminal aliens throughout the rest of the United States? Sure, the CBP intercepts a LOT of contraband in the POE---but these criminal rings are very shrewd and cunning. Look at these official US government news releases that show how our communities, throughout the entire US, have been targeted:

7/13/2009 Atlanta, GA Operator of employment agency sentenced to 5 years in prison for harboring illegal aliens

7/9/2009 Miami, FL Alien smugglers who held Cuban nationals for ransom sentenced to prison

7/9/2009 Naples, Other Global G-8 operation targeting cash couriers nets more than $7 million

7/7/2009 Minneapolis, MN Ringleader sentenced in major prostitution case

7/2/2009 Seattle, WA Meth and cocaine drug trafficking organization dismantled in Puget Sound region

7/1/2009 Dallas, TX 71-year-old Fort Worth woman admits role as leader of visa fraud scheme

Senator Schumer, do you realize that since the amnesty granted to illegal aliens in 1986 the people of this nation have spent over two trillion dollars mopping up problems caused by illegal immigrants and those who want to profit from them? As local communities absorb the costs of criminal investigations and imprisonment critical programs, such as those to elderly and disabled are having to be cut. As you yourself knows, from your request for federal help for Nassau County, NY, all of these needs are costing US taxpayers, now, over a hundred billion per year.

And obviously criminal aliens also engage in sophisticated crime as this article from New York shows:

"Mew York ICE agents arrest more than 20 people for drug trafficking, money laundering and mortgage fraud
The arrests unravel a scheme to defraud mortgage lenders of more than $13 million in loans"

According to the Federal Trade Commission Americans lose $50 billion plus countless hours of time due to ID theft. ID theft is by far the highest in states with high levels of illegal immigration.

Senator, our nation is far from secure and this is no time to entertain notions of legalizing unauthorized aliens. First we should get reimbursement for the hundreds of billions we have spent in dealing with other countries' criminal element.

    Great letter!

I've written Schumer a few times, and as much as I loathe him politically, he DOES get these and the staff does make sure he knows what's in them. He gets a zillion emails, a trillion phone calls, a million faxes... but only a few thousand letters... so, definitely a good way to go imho.
