Border Patrol unit disrupts plans of 23 immigrants
By Julia Bishop

A plain-cloths undercover division of the Border Patrol, named the Disrupt Unit, arrested 23 illegal immigrants from Mexico at a motel in Nogales.

Information provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated that at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, the Disrupt team was conducting surveillance on a Chevrolet Suburban in downtown Nogales. Agents followed the vehicle, which was believed to be transporting undocumented persons.

When the vehicle stopped, agents saw 10 people get out of the SUV and enter a motel room. Agents knocked on the door and discovered 23 undocumented migrants.

Back to Mexico

Zulma Gomez, Border Patrol public information officer, said the individuals were processed and it was determined that no one had a previous criminal record. The group, all adult males, voluntarily returned to Mexico.

The Suburban and a Plymouth Voyager that was also linked to the incident were seized.
