A U.S. Customs and Border Protection patrol unit flipped while an agent responded to a traffic call Friday afternoon near the Gateway International Bridge.

Shortly after 4 p.m., the female Border Patrol agent in the vehicle was responding to traffic when her late-90s Chevrolet Tahoe flipped landing on the SUV's hood, said Rick Rosas, a spokesman with the CBP's Rio Grande Valley Sector.

"The agent did roll over," he said. "She was not injured. The vehicle sustained major damages."

Rosas would not release the name of the agent or why she was responding to a traffic call.

A local towing company arrived on scene and turned the SUV over.
