U.S.Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: September 3 - September 9

(09/10/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 2,811 pounds of marijuana, 32.2 pounds of cocaine, and over 67 pounds of ecstasy. Agents arrested 14 criminal aliens and 6 gang members. There were 10 rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor under 3 years old in the State of California. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents witnessed a two-vehicle accident near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Agents responded immediately by securing the scene and rendering medical aid to the injured subjects until emergency medical services arrived, and local law enforcement officials assumed custody of the scene.


Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) after he illegally entered the United States via a side street near Derby, Vermont. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history to include arson, perjury and burglary.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in the State of Ohio, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC after he fled the traffic checkpoint near Wellton, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and was directed to a secondary inspection lane when he fled the scene. Agents successfully deployed a controlled tire deflation device and the subject was arrested without further incident. Records checks revealed the vehicle was reported stolen.

Blaine Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 67.4 pounds of Ecstasy and 32.2 pounds of cocaine near Lynden, Washington. The agents were following the foot sign of two subjects when they discovered an abandoned hockey bag containing the narcotics. Evidence indicated that both subjects absconded back to Canada.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted in the location of a lost individual near El Paso, Texas. Local law enforcement officers reported that an individual suffering from Alzheimer’s disease was lost. Agents and a Border Patrol canine team located the barely conscious subject. A Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician assessed the subject, who was then transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital for treatment.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha-13 gang. Records checks revealed an arrest for driving under the influence and an active warrant for his arrest in the State of California.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a Ford truck, 171 pounds of marijuana, and arrested a national of Mexico near Three Points, Arizona. Agents witnessed a single vehicle accident and observed an occupant abscond into the desert. Agents then found the subject lying on the ground a short distance from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed four bundles of marijuana. The subject was airlifted to a local hospital for medical attention.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Sunizona, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sexual abuse, sexual contact and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape of a child in the State of Washington, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously arrested for criminal sexual conduct in the State of Minnesota and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. During processing the subject admitted to being a Sureno 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Ecuador near Tonawanda, New York. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for assault on non-participant during a felony and an active arrest warrant in the State of New York. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents entered a burning building adjacent to a monastery and rescued five individuals near Granjeno, Texas. Local fire and rescue personnel responded and assumed custody of the scene. No injuries were reported.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and seized 93 pounds of marijuana near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape in the State of New York and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted Customs and Border Protection officers in seizing three semi-automatic rifles, one semi-automatic pistol, three shotguns, six magazines, and 59 rounds of ammunition from a 2000 Ford pickup near Douglas, Arizona. The agents were assisting officers with southbound operations when a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle.

Detroit Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a USC after he fell out of a boat and into a river near Detroit, Michigan. Agents deployed a rescue-ring and pulled the subject to safety.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of Los Paisas gang. Records checks revealed he had extensive criminal and immigration histories and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,257 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana concealed within wooden boxes.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tombstone, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault/intrusion under age 16 in the State of Wyoming. He had also been previously removed from the United States.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents worked in conjunction with CBP Air and Marine assets, and State and local authorities to eradicate 160 marijuana plants at grow sites in Oswego and Cayuga Counties, New York.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Sierra Vista, Arizona. During the arrest, the subject actively resisted and attempted to grab the agent's Service weapon. The subject was subdued after he and the agent fell 50 feet down a mountain. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. No injuries to agents were reported.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents encountered a 56-year-old male USC and a 13-year-old juvenile female at the traffic checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The subject presented himself for inspection and was subsequently referred to secondary after he continued to answer all questions for the juvenile. Record checks revealed that the juvenile's mother had filed a missing person report. Further investigation revealed that the juvenile met the USC on a social networking Website and had run away from home with the subject. Local law enforcement officials took the subject and the juvenile into custody.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,203 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near La Casita, Texas. Agents observed multiple subjects loading bundles of suspected contraband into the vehicle near the Rio Grande River. All of the subjects absconded when agents approached, and the marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico after he illegally entered the United States on foot near Imperial Beach, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a member of the Sureno 13 gang and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Pisinimo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape by force/fear/etc., in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.
