Thread: Illegal alien charged with death of 9-year-old girl in Texas

On Saturday, U.S. Border Patrol agents working near Laredo apprehended Isidro Espinoza-Solis, 39, as he attempted to cross into Mexico on foot. A records search determined that not only was he in the country illegally, but he was wanted for the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old girl in San Antonio.

Espinoza-Solis was booked into the Webb County Jail on an ICE hold, and has since been extradited back to San Antonio.

On Jan. 15, the Mexican national struck Tatyana Babineau with his pick up truck, as she was crossing Braesview Road, according to police.

She was on her way to school at Larkspur Elementary.

Witnesses told police that Espinoza-Solis slowed down to see what he had hit, before speeding away from the scene.

One of those witnesses, Vanessa Carrizales, told KSAT:

"I just wanted to pick her up and hold her, let her know it was OK, but I couldn't do that. She wasn't breathing."

The little girl was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Tatyana will be laid to rest at Mission Park Cemetery at 1 p.m. today.

Espinoza-Solis has been charged with failure to stop and render aid and causing serious bodily injury/death.

An online memorial fund has been set up to help Tatyana's family with expenses.
