Yuma Sector Agents Arrest 4 Felons in 12 Hours

Yuma, Ariz. - Within 12 hours, Yuma sector agents arrested four convicted felons who had a combined total of 40 arrests.

During two separate incidents, Border Patrol agents assigned to Yuma Station arrested four career criminals. The first incident occurred at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night, when a Border Patrol camera operator observed three subjects cross the Colorado River near County 9 ½ Street, illegally entering the United States. Agents immediately responded to the area and all three subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Yuma Station for processing.

The first subject had been previously removed from the United States four times. Additionally, he had been arrested for possession of narcotics for sale, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence and providing a false identification to a peace officer.

The second subject had been previously removed from the United States twice. He had prior arrests for transportation of marijuana, corporal injury to a spouse, obstructing a peace officer, driving under the influence and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The third subject had been removed once from the United States and had previous arrests for attempted robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, driving under the influence and possession of narcotics for sale.

The second incident occurred at about 4 a.m., Wednesday morning. Agents responded to a traffic collision near Avenue H½ and County 19th Street. One of the subjects at the scene was determined to be an illegal alien. The subject was arrested and transported to the Yuma Station where it was determined that he had been previously removed from the United States. The subject had also been convicted for attempted possession of dangerous drugs for sale and has spent two and half years in prison.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
