    Boaters who spot one super-fast speedboat on the Matanzas River chasing another and hearing shots being fired should understand that both vessels are most likely U.S. Customs and Border Patrol boats from St. Augustine’s new National Marine Training Center.

    And those shots are probably not real ammunition, just training rounds.

    John Parkey, director of the center, said the center, based at St. Augustine Marine Center, was leased a year ago but will graduate its first class in February.

    They will hold eight-week advanced classes in “high-speed pursuit maneuversâ€
