TV 10 San Diego:
10News learned from two sources within the U.S. Border Patrol that the man in custody and the man who was killed were both smugglers with the same criminal organization. The sources said the man in custody was released from a U.S. prison in January and was convicted in 2008 on smuggling and assault charges.
The man who was killed also had a record, according to the sources. They said he had 19 prior known cases of smuggling and assaults.
