Border Watch Group Escorted Away By Border Patrol Agents
POSTED: 10:27 pm MDT April 4, 2006
March 3, 2006 -- The U.S. Border Watch Group and the Texas Minutemen are working together in areas they call hot spots, El Paso and Hudspeth County.
Together they walk and watch the U.S.-Mexico border for people they believe are trying to cross into the U.S. illegally.
"Our main goal here is to bring awareness to the American people of the situations down here. Not only the immigration issue, but we also have a national security issue," said Curtis Colltier, a U. S. Border Watcher.
The two groups told KFOX that they work well with the Border Patrol, until Tuesday when for the first time they were detained on a levy road in Hudspeth County and then escorted out.
"We were detained there for approximately an hour and a half and then we were escorted back to road 20 and basically told we couldn't be along the border. But that is a public area," Colltier said.
The Border Patrol says that area, where they found the men, is private property. They say the men did not have permission to be there and because that area has experienced some activity in the last few months, they were concerned about border security.
The two border watch groups say they plan on being in both the El Paso and Hudspeth County area until the end of the month.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
