Braceros will participate in White House Protest

NELDA JUDITH ANZAR CORRESPONDENT

Guadalajara, Jal.. Mex., May 5.

Ventura Gutiérrez Méndez, coordinator of the Braceroproa Alliance (Alianza Braceroproa) and member of the May First Internacional Coalition, announced the massive concentration of tens of organizations in front of the White House this coming May 19th, to demand that a law is passed to grant amnesty to the undocumented.

Gutiérrez Méndez said that Braceroproa is the only organization in Mexico that is part of the May First International coalition, and he forecast that it will participate jointly with some ten groups of undocumented living in the U.S. in the protest in front of the seat of the U.S. government.

The leader explained that the gathering is planed for May 19, a week before the end of the congressional session period of that country, on may 26.

He stated: "We expect that on that day federal congressmen approve a law which will give amnesty to the undocumented living on the U.S.",

He said that the conditions are given for the undocumented community to defend its space in the neighboring country, thanks to the mega-marches of March 10 and 25, as well as those of the first of may. He trusts that after this gathering it may be able to structure a force of undocumented, which represents this group as a party in the dialogue with U.S. authorities.
