NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) -- Federal immigration agents in Niagara Falls Thursday announced the deportation of 85 Nigerians, more than half of whom had criminal convictions.

The group, which also included immigration violators, was placed on a flight from Niagara Falls International Airport to Nigeria last night, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Of those removed, 74 had been taken into custody around the United States and held at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia. Canadian authorities also placed 11 Nigerians on the flight.
