UTAH: Minuteman Address UT Compact Manipulations

Utah Minuteman Project responds to 'Utah Compact'

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Minuteman Project released a statement saying it rejects the new Utah Compact, saying it's filled with "pro-illegal alien intent and double speak."

Utah Minuteman Project chairman Eli Cawley released the statement calling the signers of the compact a "group of amnesty mongers" and accused them of not being honest in their intent.

On Nov. 11, representatives from corporations and businesses, state and city governments, community organizations and faiths signed the "Utah Compact."

The statement is intended to influence the tone of the discussion on the [ILLEGAL?]immigration issue in Utah.

Cawley says the Minuteman Project "largely agrees with the general principles released" in the compact, but he writes "The deceitful language in the compact, erasing as it does any distinction between ‘immigrants' and ‘illegal aliens' in order to communicate a message completely different than the actual language it contains, is a hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty of the highest order."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement in support [?] of the Utah Compact saying,

"The Church regards the declaration of the Utah Compact as a responsible approach to the urgent challenge of immigration reform. It is consistent with important principles for which we stand."

In the Minuteman Project statement, Cawley stated, "Those individuals and groups whose political agenda is informed by the greed for using cheap illegal labor and putting illegal derrieres in church pews are rightfully alarmed that the voice of the citizens of Utah relative to the illegal alien invasion will finally be realized by their elected representatives."

Cawley says the Minuteman Project is sympathetic to the difficulties immigrants face in Utah, but he states that the project "completely and utterly rejects the specious language, pro-illegal alien intent and double speak indulged in by the members of the Utah Compact."

Cawley says the compact will face strong opposition on Capitol Hill because an elected official has yet to sign it.

PS: Notice how the writer automatically injected the wordS "IN SUPPORT" in the article!!! That's is NOT what the LDS Church said. It doesn't say it supports COMPACT or CON ACT...That news channel has given me the impression that it is notoriously on the side of illegal immigrants for whatever reason. They wouldn't dare open their comment boards again to hear what the public has to say about this crap. Also notice that the author of the article IS the news channel!!!! http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=13287978

Great response to this totally ridiculous compact. Some of the people who signed this need to be told what we think. United Way of Utah signed this. Can you believe it? Your donations to the United Way are going to assist illegal aliens. Ivory Homes, the biggest employer of illegals in Utah, is now pleading for compassion, isn't that touching? Everyone on this compact is nothing but a self serving hypocrite, they don't care about illegals at all. 57% of Utahns according to the latest poll, want the AZ law here, that is why all of these pathetic idiots are suddenly so concerned.
