I hope nobody takes this last monstrosity of an excuse for amnesty seriously. Remember in 1986 the government promised it would be a one time only amnesty and that the border would be secured forever. So why are we even debating another amnesty? Why does the government not fulfill the law as it was passed in 1986? If the government will not enforce its old laws why should we believe in any new laws? This would be the proof of an honest effort to control illegal immigration: Those living illegally in the USA, MUST LEAVE THE COUNTRY. Remember this can be done cheaply and humanely ("self-deportation"). If the government will not do that, it certainly will not do anything else to control illegal immigration. Why is there no legislation to cut off federal funds to "sanctuary cities?" Where is the promised border fence? And WHEN the government does not enforce the law (as it certainly will do) what mechanisms are there to FORCE the government to obey the law -- none. But certainly there will be no problem giving legal status to illegal aliens. Dear Senators, knock off the bull crap. No amnesty, secure the border -- period.
