U. S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: March 4 - March 10

(03/10/2010)Border Patrol agents seized over 7,400 pounds of marijuana and 170.8 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 11 criminal aliens and 14 gang members. There was one rocking incident.

Detroit Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,865 counterfeit DVDs, $785, a 2008 Pontiac G6 and arrested a national of Lebanon near Dearborn, Michigan. Agents arrested the subject following a vehicle stop. Records checks revealed the subject was a Federal fugitive and had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Belize while performing bus checks near Desert Haven, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the subject’s seat and a subsequent search revealed a switchblade knife and a small amount of marijuana. During processing, he admitted to being a Rolling 40s Crips gang member.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Bushland, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member and had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents received information regarding a possible ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents located the drop zone, and recovered 268 pounds of marijuana, a small package of cocaine, and a drop basket.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Eagle Pass, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Albuquerque, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 170.8 pounds of cocaine, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two United States Citizens (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. Both subjects presented themselves for inspection and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer. A Border Patrol canine also alerted to the trailer, and a search by agents revealed the narcotics inside the conveyance.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being Sureño 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had a prior conviction for attempted murder and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 58 illegal aliens from Mexico and one illegal alien from El Salvador at an abandoned apartment near Douglas, Arizona. Agents were notified about illicit activity in the area and discovered the subjects inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Batesville, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,004 pounds of marijuana and a vehicle near El Centro, California. Agents attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver failed to yield. The driver eventually stopped the vehicle near the border and the occupants fled into Mexico. The marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two USCs and rescued nine illegal aliens from a tractor-trailer at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the tractor-trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology indicated the presence of humans inside the trailer. A subsequent search revealed the illegal aliens concealed in a 4x6 compartment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Miguel, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Hidalgo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an 18th Street gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 5,061 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Amado, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle and a search by agents uncovered the narcotics.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had two prior sex offense convictions in the State of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape of a child in the State of Washington, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from El Salvador near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed both subjects were MS-13 gang members and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. Record checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for third degree misdemeanor sexual abuse, failure to register as a sexual offender, and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a High Lander/Sureño gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,067 pounds of marijuana near Gu Vo, Arizona. Agents were tracking a group of suspected illegal aliens when they discovered 21 abandoned backpacks containing the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – An off-duty Border Patrol agent encountered a single vehicle accident that was obstructing traffic near Jacumba, California. While checking on the welfare of the driver, the agent discovered marijuana bundles scattered on the highway. An estimated 500 pounds of marijuana was seized.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had an active warrant of arrest issued in the State of California for failure to appear related to charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Otay Mesa, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a Sureño 13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and had been previously removed from the United States. The subject also had an active warrant of arrest issued in the State of Arizona for parole violation.
