Bus Companies Paid $100 Million to Ship Migrants to New York, Chicago: Report

Companies have made another $40 million sending migrants to other sanctuary cities, according to a lawsuit estimate

A New York City lawsuit estimates that bus companies transporting migrants from the southern border to New York and Chicago have raked in more than $100 million.

The figures are calculated by taking the cost of $1,650 per migrant traveler times the number of them sent to places like Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Denver and Los Angeles, according to WLS-TV.

Texas bussed 90,000 migrants to those cities by the end of 2023, which brings the total cost to about $148,500,000, according to that estimate. This doesn’t include the number of migrants flown on private charter jets to those cities.

Chicago and New York City have absorbed a combined 63,600 migrants, which totals $104 million in bus fare, per the estimate.

As bus companies bring in millions of dollars for absorbing the migrants there, the cities where migrants arrive pay millions to house and care for them.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams last week said his city is suing at least 17 charter bus companies for over $700 million — an amount the city argues the companies should have already paid for the 33,600 migrants transported to NYC. Adams said the city is asking for the money to cover costs incurred for providing emergency shelter to the arrivals.

“New York City has and will always do our part to manage this humanitarian crisis, but we cannot bear the costs of reckless political ploys from the state of Texas alone,” Adams said.

“Today, we are taking legal action against 17 companies that have taken part in Texas Governor Abbott’s scheme to transport tens of thousands of migrants to New York City in an attempt to overwhelm our social services system."

Officials in Chicago passed an ordinance late last year that regulates buses coming to town, and the city has issued 95 citations to a combined 30 bus companies so far for unscheduled stops. There have been 636 buses carrying migrants to Illinois since 2022, WLS reported.

There have been no payments on any of those so far in Cook County, the report stated.

Now we are going to have to foot the bill for hotels, medical care, school, crime, food, clothes, law enforcement, rape, murder, diseases, and spend our money, out of our wallets, to send them the hell back home!
