Bush must talk sense to GOP on immigration

Much as he reached out last week to former secretaries of State and Defense on Iraq policy, President Bush should call in his radio talk-show supporters for a frank chat about immigration.

Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt and Laura Ingraham certainly aren't as distinguished as ex-Secretaries James Baker, Madeleine Albright and Robert McNamara, but they are the ones fueling Republican uproar over illegal immigration.

Yet they support Bush ardently and they ought to be open to an argument from him â€â€

We all AGREE that the talk radio show hosts are his buddies. BUT they are almost all against a temporary worker program, and if they do a big switch-a-roo on the people.....it could hurt their credibility.

BESIDES do you think these talk radio hosts are going to want the entire country calling in and arguing with them and then hanging up and turning off the radio forever

They will have too much to lose.

He's not going to be president forever, and they will still want their shows to have credibility for the future.

ON THE OTHER HAND, perhaps they should try to talk some sense into the President over the air. I'd tune in for that one !!!

that the only way the United States is truly going to solve the problem of illegal immigration is with a comprehensive plan, like his, that not only controls the borders but creates legal means for immigrants to work.

Comprehensive is a code word for amnesty and nobody is going to buy into that line of BS. If Hush, Hannity and Oreilly start selling this bill of goods their popularity will be in the toilet in no time and they will lose their shows soon after. Nice try idiot.

These idiots don't get it. They still think that this anti invader crusade is only coming from some fringe group. They don't realize that America is fed up, mad as hell and won't take it anymore. These snake oil salesmen parading around as fake republicans will soon be out of their jobs in 2006.
