Imports and exports, a lucrative business.

Why would a zebra change her stripes in regards to the export business?

Backtrack to November 3, 2003. President Fox of Mexico said �We need ….organize a flow of people who go each year for temporary work, or permanent work, without the need to become United States citizens."

Fast-forward: May 15, 2005. President Fox says today that�…he was encouraged by a bill to allow some illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual (United States) citizenship.�

Dollars and sense

* Year 2002 $8 billion U.S. dollars in remittances to Mexico alone
* Year 2003 $12 billion in remittances to Mexico citizens.

* Year 2004, $16.6 billion sent home to Mexico.

Does anyone reading this note a pattern developing? I do. Illegal immigration is a lucrative side-business. In fact, it is more lucrative than tourism dollars and almost as lucrative as the oil business in the neighboring country of Mexico.

Changing numbers in changing years

Year 2002. 8 million illegal aliens now reside in the United States

Year 2004. 12 million illegal aliens estimated to be living in the US. This number is growing by 3,000 entering a day and is now estimated to hover nearer the 18 million mark.

Please remember, that these numbers do not reflect United States citizen children, whose births account for more than two-thirds of the total U.S. population growth.

Why I think the zebra has changed its stripes.

I believe that United States citizens, native-born or amnestied, are less likely to be deported for immigration violations. In fact, they will not be deported at all.

I also believe that these new American citizens will continue send home financial aid in the form of untaxed American dollars to their relatives in Mexico, as any of us would do if our families were starving and our own government was refusing to aid them.

If we were to enforce our current immigration laws, there is a good chance that American dollars sent out of the country will no longer surpass tourism money. In fact, Mexico, with the highest GDP per capita in all of Latin America, may find herself in the awkward position of having to tax her citizens to help pay for costly welfare programs there. To my way of thinking if President Fox succeeds in his bid to gain American citizenship for his current population of illegal aliens residing in America, Mexico will not only rid herself of her indigent poor but will also remain in a position to continue to receive American dollars sent back home. A win win. For Mexico. And a losing proposition for the United States taxpayers.

Fact 1: The poverty rate for immigrants (legal and illegal) and their U.S.-born children (under 18) is two-thirds higher than that of natives and their children, Immigrants and their minor children now account for almost one in four persons living in poverty.

Fact 2: Each year, untaxed dollar remittances sent out of our country to Mexico rises. The dollar amount has risen along with the number of illegal aliens crossing into our country since the promised One Time Only Amnesty of 1986.

Fact 3: We have had 7 amnesties following the promised one time only amnesty of 1986. The one time only amnesty also carried with it the guarantee that our United States government would fully secure our borders, never to allow an unchecked illegal migrant flow into the United States again. To date, this is unchanged. In fact, the flow is greater each year.

Are we importing what Mexico is exporting?

We have greater and greater numbers of poverty stricken American families. More are also being imported at the rate of 3,000 a day by a country that is quite wealthy but pays little to help these families. Are we, by the action of non-action, contributing to what made America great or are we overloading her to the point of her steadfast and unchecked downfall? Are we paving the way to the loss of the once-solid middle class in America? You should ask yourselves; which category will my own children will fall under? The ‘Haves’? Or the ‘Have-nots’? For it is our American children’s future, be they Black American children, White American children, Latino American children, Oriental American children or Native American children et al that will be dramatically affected tomorrow---by today’s action.. For many of our Black American children and our Native American children, the answer is fairly predictable. They will likely reside among the ‘Have-nots’.

And that is just plain wrong, to my way of thinking. My opinion of course differs with the Zebra’s opinion….�Mexicans…are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States� Marty Lich may be contacted at Martyincol@Juno.com

Immigration demand backfires

Fox, who took office in 2000, has made a top priority of reaching an accord with Washington to make it easier for Mexicans to live and work there.

(President) Fox said this weekend he was encouraged by a bill put forward by Sens. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, to allow some illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual citizenship.

Mexico announced it would formally protest recent U.S. immigration reforms, including the decision to extend walls along the border and make it harder for illegal migrants to get driver's licenses.

Mexican president lays out demands for immigration reform

"We need for the families of those who already are there to be able to get together their relatives … and organize a flow of people who go each year for temporary work, or permanent work, without the need to become U.S. citizens."

"When we have to protest, we protest; when we have to demand, we demand; and when we have to denounce, we denounce," Fox said.

Fox has come under pressure from Mexico’s Congress to use his upcoming trip to publicly denounce perceived abuses of migrants, such as the arrest of dozens of undocumented cleaning workers at Wal-Mart stores in October.

In addition to all the financial ways listed here on how the US benefits Mexico, our country also sends them foreign aid. Does anyone have information on the most recent annual figures? Just curious.

$15 Billion/yr so add that to the other numbers and it's a whopping "underwriting" of a racist, La Raza, Nation we should be spitting on instead of funding as if they were "Kings".
