A U.S. District Judge sentenced a Mexican man convicted of drug dealing to 15 years in prison Wednesday.

Rodolfo Alonso Cano, also known as Sam, 33, of Chihuahua, Mexico, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, and of being in possession of a firearm, said a press release from the Office of the United States Attorney District of Arizona.

Cano admitted that he had been in the country illegally since 1995 and that he had used false social security numbers to work.

On July 8, 2004, federal agents found nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine, drug ledgers and a .45-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol in Cano's Phoenix apartment. The ledgers showed that at least 35 kilograms of methamphetamine, 146 kilograms of cocaine, and 1,500 kilograms of marijuana were distributed by the drug trafficking organization, the press release said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents from Nogales handled the investigation and Susan A. Baumann, assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Arizona in Tucson prosecuted the case.
