CBP Apprehends Suspect in 2007 Las Cruces Murder at El Paso Port of Entry

El Paso, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Paso del Norte international border crossing in El Paso apprehended a 28-year-old man being sought by the Las Cruces Police Department in connection with a killing that occurred almost two years ago. The apprehension occurred early Friday evening at the downtown pedestrian crossing.

CBP officers apprehended Luis Daniel Alvarez (aka Luis Alvarez-Macias) as he entered the U.S. from Mexico.

When CBP officers performed a name query on Alvarez, they determined that he was a wanted person. CBP officers immediately took the man into custody and continued to perform checks on his identity. They quickly discovered that he was wanted in connection with the January 29, 2007 killing of Mark Cobb. The crime was the subject of a Las Cruces Police Department Crime Stoppers report last December.
