CBP Officers Apprehend Fugitive Wanted by FBI on Multiple Sex Charges

Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working the northbound pedestrian lane at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge apprehended a traveler wanted by the FBI and by the State of Alabama on multiple sex charges.

On April 7 at 8:50 a.m., CBP officers working the northbound pedestrian lane at the Hidalgo port of entry came in contact with a northbound male traveler. At pedestrian primary, the traveler was identified as Jorge Eduardo De la Cruz Cordova, a Mexican citizen, age 26 from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

After primary, De la Cruz Cordova was referred to immigration secondary for questioning. While in secondary, a check of a CBP database identified De la Cruz Cordova as the subject of an outstanding criminal arrest warrant. The warrant identified De la Cruz Cordova as a fugitive wanted by the FBI and by the Decatur, Ala. Police Department on state charges of felony rape, felony sodomy and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

After his arrest, De la Cruz Cordova was transferred to the custody of the McAllen, Texas FBI office. De la Cruz Cordova remains incarcerated pending extradition proceedings.
